Jon Tester Officially Files for U.S. Senate
Montana Senate President Says Time to End Burns’ Reign of Corruption, Bring Real Leadership for All Montanans to Washington, D.C.
Jon Tester today officially filed as a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, saying it’s time to end Senator Conrad Burns’ “reign of corruption” and provide real leadership for all Montanans in Washington.
Tester released the following statement when he officially filed his candidacy for the United States Senate.
“Conrad Burns’ reign of corruption is coming to an end. I look forward to bringing Montanans the kind of leadership we want and deserve.
“I’m a third-generation Montanan. My wife and I live in Big Sandy, on the farm my grandfather homesteaded.
“And, as Senate President, I helped Governor Brian Schweitzer deliver on the most ambitious legislative agenda in recent memory: prescription drugs for the seniors who need it, an energy plan to help cut our dependence on foreign oil, a better funding plan for our schools, and economic incentives to create jobs in every corner of Montana – all without raising taxes.
“In Washington, I’ll work to make affordable health care more important than drug and insurance company profits, create more jobs in Montana, and end the iron grip that the special interests have on our government.
“Growing up on a farm, I learned to work hard, have faith, love our country, and support my family and community.
“Those are the lessons we all teach our children. And it’s a message Montana can teach America.
“I may not look like the rest of the U.S. Senate. But maybe it’s time that the rest of the Senate looked a little more like Montana.”
