19 Jon Tester for U.S. Senate | Montana 2006

Burns’ Cut and Run Press Conference

This was the scene at a Burns picnic yesterday. When pressed regarding his association with Jack Abramoff, Burns was ready to fight with reporters — but not ready to level with Montanans.

What about answering to me? His constituent? Those Montana type people that he represents. One of the people who can either vote Conrad back into a position of power, or one who can vote for that other guy, Tester.

Evade all you want Burns. I want honesty. And while I don’t agree with all of Tester’s positions, and I will hold him to the same standards that I hold you to, my vote in November, undeniably, is going to Tester.

So NOW it’s he met with Abramoff “once”?!! When before ol’ Cornbread said that he had NEVER met with Jack, even once! Cornbread Buns is lying his ass off! But another question that Corny needs t answer is “stay and win”. He just LUVS to accuse Tester of cut and run in Iraq. But just what the friggin’ hell does “stay and win” mean??? The public should be demanding a detailed, specific answer! Iraq grows worse daily by every indication. It has now lasted longer than WWII. And this idiot Burns thinks there exists a possibility of actualling winning! Well then, LET’S SEE A TIME TABLE FOR WINNING! How long, Cornbread, and at what cost? Stay and win must be as THOROUGHLY questioned as cut and run!

That is a great point CeCe, what about us? He wasn’t thinking about us when he got into bed with that man and he isn’t thinking about us now.

The importance of a Democratic congress couldn’t have been clearer this week. And with your help, we’ll get just that in November.

An explosive report on the still-classified National Intelligence Estimate states that the “invasion and occupation of Iraq has helped spawn a new generation of Islamic radicalism and that the overall terrorist threat has grown since the Sept. 11 attacks”.

Republicans are trying to cover it up. The administration is selectively declassifying portions of the report to muddy the waters and the right-wing propaganda machine is in damage-control mode. There’s even a second briefing that they still refuse to discuss.

So as the Republican congress tried to skip town, our Democratic leader in the House, Nancy Pelosi, went on the offense. She and her Democratic colleagues offered a motion to send the House into secret session to go over the full report in detail to get to the bottom of it.

But the Republicans wouldn’t let it happen. Their “no” votes are the starkest admission yet that they just don’t want to know what’s really happening on the ground in Iraq, in Afghanistan, or anywhere else.

Leader Pelosi said that enough is enough — and that when Democrats take back the House we will hold this administration accountable for making us less safe.

Do you agree? If you do, you can send a message that you’re with Leader Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats who are tired of business as usual. Make a special donation and send a note of thanks to her asking her to keep up the fight:

It’s important that Democratic leaders know where you stand, but they can’t do the job on their own — they need your help.
